Labour won the Barnsley By-Election by an increased majority, analysis from pollsters Survation, suggested 60% of voters who backed the Lib Dems last May had switched to Labour. This pushed them into 6th place behind the BNP and an independent TORY.

The Tories came third losing more than 40% of their voters behind UKIP who limped into second place.
