Day Off

Chester, Weir, The Groves

I had to have a day off to rest my bruised body from rolling on the floor laughing (ROFL) after reading  the Victoria Ward, Lib-Dem candidate’s latest Election Campaign leaflet. Then I saw the interviews from Clegg-less about social mobility…. Alastair Campbell on his blog commented.

So gingerly, I hobbled along to Blundellsands & Crosby Station to take my son to Chester on Merseyrail.

I can highly recommend a visit to the Weir next to ‘The Groves’ beneath the Chester “Handbridge” at the moment. We watched and heard the splashing of really big, returning Salmon, leaping the weir and then jumping for flies in the calmer water above.  The Salmon were driving the local Herons frantic and a huge sea-going Cormorant was thrashing about. It must have followed them up the River Dee from the Irish Sea.

It was an excellent day out and  only cost me £4.50, for a new style all-areas ticket. Chris has a disabled pass so he went free. Even better, got home to find I’d won a ‘£400 Week-end, Hotel break’ on the “Merseyrail-Postcode lottery” scratch-card given with each ticket. Yes I know…..

Back to leafleting in the morning.

By the way, (BTW*) Just read the next leaflet prior to sending for printing, superb job Les!
