The LibDem/Tory Deputy Prime Minister Clegg said that the decision by Universities to charge maximum fees wasn’t up to universities as they “can’t charge £9,000 unless they’re given permission to do so”. He also promised “real sanctions” for those institutions that fail to meet their targets. The Office for Fair Access (Offa) has said it does not plan to stop any universities charging the maximum rate. Not a single university will have its fees renegotiated.
This will leave this sham of a so-called government with a massive funding crisis. Given their record so far it may mean that more and more courses have to be cancelled, tutors sacked and student’s education wrecked.
