Shipping Minister Michael Penning announced the closure in 2014/15 of eight coastguard stations including Crosby. Other stations to close are Brixham, Clyde, Forth, Great Yarmouth, Portland, Swansea, Thames.
Yet again the useless Liberal Democrats stand behind the despicable Tories as they force through more ideological driven cuts. The £653 million lost over the premature sale of Northern Rock would have been enough to keep these vital coastguard services open for 100 years. The savings made by these cuts are reported at a relatively megre £7.5 milllion per annum.
